For those who admire wooden yachts, there's nothing quite like the thrill of wandering round a marina filled with classic yachts polished and preened for a Classic Regatta
Below is the story of our Classic Round the Island Race 08 on Caressa. This race is part of the British Classic Yacht Club Regatta in Cowes held annualy in July. There was a fresh North Westerly for most of the way. Click on each image to enlarge

Before the start Tuiga raises her main

with tug o' war team on the windward rail as she hardens up and sheets in the hundreds of metres of main

 

after rounding, Tuiga was next. She was close on the wind and coming up fast

there was a shout to give her some room, she piled past,

 

and a few seconds, she was gone too.

 

Caressa's pushpit was a great vantage point to see these majestic yachts in their natural habitat

 

We arrived at the Needles with newly built pilot cutter Polly Agatha

just as the wind dropped and the tide was running fiercely against us

Back home the skipper of Mariquitta wonders where we are as his crew make sure she is ship-shape.
